hippygeekOh, Hello World - 2009-06-29

Some of you are politely wondering just where everybody is and why everything appears to be quiet. Well, everything is in the hands of two or three people right now. We've reached a production bottleneck (color correction), and there's not much we can do to excite you guys until this incredibly time consuming task completes. In an earlier post we implied this would only take a few days. We were wrong, and should have checked with those doing the actual correction first.

As to the fulfilment work, real life has encroached on both TeKnoLuSt's and my schedules, so we've not finished allocation of resources yet, though I hope one of us will get round to it this week.

Things are beginning to move on other fronts too - looks like we'll have some interesting media coverage coming up, and two companies have offered us super-seeding of the torrents to ensure no bottlenecks at release.

As soon as we get word that the videos are signed off on and ready for final stitching, we'll be back with a release date and a three minute preview trailer. 'til then, go spank a monkey or something.

Those of you that want to know more about what's happening where and when should check out the ETS threads or follow us on twitter.

ps - I almost forgot. The torrent of the 2nd DVD from the Chile NIN guys is now out. And seven1963 is up and running in all it's glory (if you're looking for live NIN shows, this is the place to go).

ash512a first peak at "Another Version of the Truth" - 2009-05-08

Hey guys, what's up?

The last few weeks have been hectic for the editing team - the result being though that we really are only a few days away from being done!

All editors of the Gift DVD are submitting their final cuts on Monday, May 11th to be sent to Icklekitty. She's stitching it all together and sending it to color correction in the following days. I'm not going to state any precise release date just yet, but I would figure once it's in the hands of color correctors, it shouldn't be that long until it's out, especially since DVD menus, 5.1 surround mix and authoring will be finalized in the mean time.

Then there's the Vegas show, which will see the first half of its final draft submitted on Tuesday May 12th. I've been working my ass off on this lately and I'm telling you - your footage makes it look awesome!

If The Gift is the pro-shot, steady, sharp and slick-looking release with only the absolute best shots of all three shows in full HD, then the Vegas show is an amazing collection of rawer yet much more human and emotional footage you guys all shot. It has a very distinct vibe (and setlist) compared to every previous NIN release, official or not. Its quality varies a lot - some people submitted mindblowing HD that rivals with the official stuff (PDX Taper, Chaonatic, JAM0007, Ryan J, Callahan, etc). Others have submitted stuff shot on lower quality but delivered great angles and coverage that you can't see in The Gift (Gregthepilot, Victoria Wesson, Ryan Clevenger, Divine Debris, AKM, etc). We've also opted for a 24 fps framerate which, along with the grainier texture of the images, gives it a film-like feel and really makes it stand on its own.

And I know you really can't wait, so I'm happy to present to you the first peak at "Another Version Of The Truth". Here is Pinion/Wish, live in Las Vegas (make sure you click the HD button if your computer can handle it!)

We've also uploaded an iPod ready copy (640 x 360) for you - to make it easy to take the video away with you.

As you can see, the footage gives the show a very brutal and raw tone which is very interesting when compared to the polished, official stuff.

Which reminds me... With AVOTT soon to be completed and the NIN/JA tour about to start with an awesome open taping policy, Reflecting in the Chrome has started the ball rolling with plans for a fan made video project for the next tour - and wants us to get involved. Ryan Jonik @RITC is doing a fantastic job collecting information about who will be taping what at which show so people can keep track of which footage they have and which angles they miss, ensuring the best and most complete edits possible.

Post production will be open to everyone - Ryan informs me that at least 100 sources have been confirmed for the tour so far and, as we've heard, the setlist should be varied this time around, which means there won't be such a strict setlist to follow - we could stitch together a collection of edits of different songs all made by different people to create the ultimate setlist ourselves! It would be a welcomed change from the rigid Lights In The Sky tour releases.

How does that sound? Want to get involved? Tell us what you're up to and make this project your own! If you want to tape/record audio for the tour, be sure to join the Reflecting in the chrome forums and inform us of the shows you'll be taping, the location of your seats and the type of hardware you'll be bringing. For those interested in post-production, head over to ETS or nin.com. Discussions are now opened on how to go about with this release! Get involved!

Also look out in the next few days for more sneak peeks at AVOTT including videos, info on bonus material (shitload of incredible never-before-seen content, NOT KIDDING!) and, of course, RELEASE DATES. The end is near!
