Screenings

We've been receiving a lot of interest and inquiries lately from people wanting to set up screenings in their area (from London to LA to Belgium to Moscow) and with the release of our torrents, we've decided to include a page to help YOU get together something in your city and advertise it on this page.

CONFIRMED SCREENINGS

Looks like this is going mainstream

Rob Sheridan's posted a great article on nin.com about our release and other fan community projects. I forgot to put up a Digg page at release, but Rob's posted one and it's already front paged, so it looks like we're going to be getting a little more attention now.

Thanks to everyone who's been getting the word out and helping us to distribute and repackage the content as needed. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Here are a few soundbites on the project from the media:

This One Is On Us presents: Another Version of the Truth: The Gift

12 months,
a core team of dozens (with a network of thousands)
spanning 3 continents,
4 languages,
5 specialist teams,
countless sleepless nights...

It's finally here.

Filmed in Sacramento, Portland, and Victoria by the Nine Inch Nails team, edited and produced by their fans, The Gift is a stunning work in 1080p High Definition video with 5.1 Surround Sound, multi-language subtitles, and artistically-driven ethics.

Gift is available in the following formats:

nine inch nails - the downward spiral : live

When I first heard about the TDS set the band performed at Webster Hall on August 23rd 2009, I pretty much, like everyone else in the entire world, went apeshit. Part of it was my epic failure of choosing to see the Bowery Ballroom show the night before instead (which was still mindblowing in its own right). But then I remembered Trent tweeting the night before about the show not being officially filmed due to Live Nation charging them too much dough. Trent also mentioned this would be the first and last time they'd ever play that set... I immediately got on it and used the @thisoneisonus twitter feed to get the ball rolling.

General Update

Things have been busy in the TOIOU camp lately!

The Gift was signed off last week and is currently winging its way to Chicago for authoring.

The subtitles were completed (in 8 languages) and checked for sync.

And graphics were tested on a big screen television.

Vegas is currently being exported too - here's a video of The Great Destroyer to whet your apettites:

2009 NIN/JA tour laminates

Ash isn't the only one with a side project - I've been reworking the tour laminate generator. How it works is that you enter your information, and it builds you a 300 dpi image for you to print out, laminate and (for nerd cred) wear.

street team update

some lucky horse

From Germany to California, from the Jersey shores to the field of Ohio...THE WORD IS BEING SPREAD!!!

Many of you have been using the tools available to you from the artwork winning media pack and some of you have taken it upon yourself to even produce your own materials to put out into the public eye - and some of you have been posting photos of yourself. With a horse even. Lucky horse - nobody wants to ride me while wearing a TOIOU shirt!

brain dump from the big boss

There are several of us in the group that put in many, many hours of our time to move this project forward, but nobody has worked as hard as Shreena (icklekitty) in her role as project manager at making sure we move forward at a reasonable pace. As part of our ongoing blogs from various members of the group, she's taken the time to write down her thoughts on the project and how it's developed.

We realize that you're all impatient to see our finished project, and hope that these insights help you to understand where we're at and why it seems to be taking so DAMN LONG. We know the wait will be worth it. Really :)

editing blog, round 2

Before I even get into my little blog here I feel it's necessary to note that it is 9:51am in Australia, I have been up all night and it's likely my spelling and grammar will be greatly effected (or affected?) by this.

So the project is really coming together nicely. The editing is quite close to completion and I have to say it is looking freakin' awesome. Now I don't want to sound like too much of an arrogant jerk, but what we have blows away any other edits I've seen of the Gift footage (mostly due to the fact we're using footage from every camera over all the shows)
