Expanded initial distribution run (AKA ordering reopened)

I spent 4 hours last night analyzing orders, calculating shipping costs and running through a shit load of possible scenarios. To make a long story short, we currently have 1288 BD/DVD orders and 750 DVD orders. Having done the calculations, I'm going to extend this to 2,000 BD/DVD sets and 2,000 DVD sets. I'll be checking on order counts daily, and when the BD/DVD sets run out (as I'm sure they will), I'll remove them from the order page, and will do a final cut off when the DVD sets sell out. Once we have completed this run we can examine whether or not to focus on getting a small, simple run of just BD discs organized for those that missed out and had to order the DVD set. I've also been examining some other fulfillment options that we can use after this first run, so it won't be the end of things even if you do miss out on this run!

A bit more info

The biggest concern for me is the ability to cover all shipping costs. Projecting this from current orders makes it only an approximation. On the one hand, i don't want to end up with a lot of money in the bank when we're done. Equally, I don't want to end up $2-3k short on shipping at the end.

Increasing the run means adding more up front costs to the initial orders for printing/shipping materials etc. I've run through various scenarios, and am pretty sure that only in an extreme worst case scenario (of only selling 1,000 rather than 2,000 more sets) and with a much larger Rest Of World mailing split (USA sets are subsidizing ROW shipping to ensure single price for all orders) would things start to get really tight. Even then though, I'm sure all it would mean would be delaying the shipping on some of the free sets until sales catch up with needs.

Once the digital scales I ordered arrive, I can start weighing up sample sets and nail down the actual costs a little better.

Thanks to everyone who's been donating (about 1/3 of you!) and to you all for being understanding as I explore our limits and amend our time lines based on all the external factors involved. The one last thing I'm waiting on is updated disc images: DVD image for Vegas, BD image for The Gift and the revised, color corrected DVD image for The Gift. If they get delayed further, I will be amending the ship date one more time, but I'm sincerely hoping that Greg can get them all out this week! Whatever I do though, there will be complaints - ship on time without color corrected DVDs? Or be late and perfect? I know there's people in both camps. Maybe I'll let people request an inferior product if they want their sets earlier :) We'll see...
