Ordering BD/DVD sets is now up and running (for real!)

You can now order BD/DVD sets through our new PayPal account. Before you order, we strongly recommend that you read this. It should answer most of your questions, and will save you from looking like an idiot by asking a question we have already answered.

Everything is lined up to get these mailed in the week beginning ~~March 15th~~ March 22nd (taking into account delays in Gift BluRay and Vegas DVD). I will be signing off on the print order Tuesday 2nd March. Pictures will follow as things start to arrive.

We did have PayPal issues - these have been resolved. Click through to read what happened and how we fixed it.

What the fuck happened with the PayPal orders

Our original account is registered to a Mr Thisone Isonus. Nobody really thought about who should take ownership when it was opened, so no one did. Since then, things have moved on somewhat.

Also, nobody had noticed that our account had limits - we could only send and receive a couple of thousand dollars if the account wasn't linked to a bank account. Being able to only withdraw $750 a month would basically have killed our ability to deliver on this. Fortunately, I spotted this only a couple of hours after we started taking orders. But, even in that short time, we'd taken enough to cause problems.

Since you cannot change the owner's name on a Paypal account, we couldn't link it to a bank account.

I spoke with an accountant. He recommended I set up a separate checking account for this (which I have), and that we use that. So I have, and created a new PayPal Account that is linked to it. For accountability, I'll be sharing copies of bank statements within the group, and am documenting all expenses/receipts in a spreadsheet. Once we're done with the project, we will close the account and send the remaining balance to charity (in keeping with our non-profit approach here). We've been trying to keep this as informal as possible but, as always, money involves adding a level of formality (and transparency, which is good) to the proceedings.

Everything else is all organized. Hopefully this will be our last major hurdle in getting these sets out to everyone!

PayPal update (22 Feb 7pm PST)

Apparently, taking a shit load of money in one day is a problem with PayPal - I've just submitted them a shit load of documentation and clarifications. Hopefully they'll come to the website, read up on who we are and what we're doing and all will be well in the next couple of days. Will definitely impact our deliverable date though if not resolved by the end of the week. I will keep you all posted.

PayPal update (23 Feb 8.30pm PST)

Called PayPal this morning, spoke to a nice customer service rep who advised me to upload a couple more documents. Headed to the bank, got them printed off, scanned and sent to PayPal. Now it's a waiting game. They say it will be resolved in 3 days. So next report either Thursday or when it's all sorted - whichever is first.

PayPal update (24 Feb 11.30am PST)

PayPal access is fully restored, money is on its way to checking account, and then on to the printers!
